Keeping Banking Competitive: Evaluating Proposed Bank Mergers and Acquisitions


Abstract: All bank mergers and acquisitions (M&A) require the approval of regulators. This article describes the methods used by the Federal Reserve to evaluate whether a bank merger or acquisition is acceptable under federal antitrust laws and its Board of Governors? bank competition policy.
