Abstract: Remarks at the Institute of Economic Affairs' 23rd Annual State of the Economy Conference, London, February 6, 2006 ; \"I posit that China and India and the new players will enhance American productivity and abet U.S. growth, not threaten it. These rising economies will provide sources of inputs American companies can use to drive down costs and increase variety for consumers. They will increase competition--which is good. Competition sharpens the wits and improves muscle tone.\">
